Internet Hoaxes

Internet Hoaxes

This project was our first project that  used our web template to create a larger multipage website.

Process

We started out with our template we had made earlier in the week.  This template is basically a shell containing all of the HTML and CSS needed to shape the website into what it needs to be.  All I have to do is change the colors for in the CSS and enter in the content as well as touch up the HTML if needed and the website is complete.

Looking Ahead

This project exposed a lot of weaknesses with my web designing but it also project my strengths as well.  Weakness wise, the coloration of the website isn't the best and I had trouble getting the links to behave the way I needed them to.  As for my strengths in this project, I felt that in general I have a basic understanding of HTML and I do know what i'm doing most of the time.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this was a old project.  It used the template in which we built by ourselves and it added in all of the skills we had previously accumulated from the earlier projects and it created a fully functioning website.

Music Video 90 Second Edit

90 Second Music Video

This is a music video for the song "Safe and Sound" by Capital Cities.  Overall, this was a fun project.  We had a lot of freedom over what we were able to do in this music video.  The task was to create a music video, maximum 90 seconds, that told a story through whats seen on the screen but also what the music said in the background.  At the beginning of the project, my group had a hard time with coming up with a song for the video.  We eventually chose this song because it was really up tempo and had a sad part in the middle which fit our story perfectly.

Process
After we chose our song, we made up a beat sheet for the video This "beat sheet" is a paper where all of the shots we want to get are matched up with a beat or lyrics of the song so the video flows smoother.  Then my group made up a story board, which is more of a visual type of a beat sheet where one of us draws out all of the scenes and puts the lyrics underneath.  After all of those were done, we refer to those as "preproduction tasks", my group and I grabbed a camera and began to film.

Filming in my opinion is the funnest part of the process.  You get to go out and be creative with how you shoot the film, where the camera is placed, the different angles you can aim the camera to get different shots and there is just so much you can do to portray your story in a creative way.  The filming process took about two weeks to finish.

When all of the filming was done, we moved on to the postproduction stage, more commonly referred to as editing.  Each of our group members fired up Final Cut Pro and began the long process.  Editing took about another week to get all of the shots lined up with the music and the correct transitions in as well as all of the credits.

Response goes here... don't forget to do it!

Collaboration: Brooke was very difficult to work with due to her constant nagging and getting off topic.

C.A.R.P Project

CARP.  Contrast, Alignment, Repetition, and Proximity.  These four words summarize all of the basic design principles that one needs to make something look nice and appealing.  If you had looked at the two pictures to the left before I had mentioned CARP, it would just look like a normal website. Lets take a deeper look.
CONTRAST: The different color in the links
The different size of the text
The background contrasted to my shirt in the picture

The Chase

During the filming of this project, I learned the importance of keeping the camera on the tripod so the film would be smooth and not shaky. I also learned that getting close-ups help smooth out the film and makes for less jump cuts and confused audience members.

Stuff for the second question goes in this paragraph here.

The collaboration for this project was different because beforehand there was only one actor and on cameraman/women. Now, with this project and moving forward there are going to be more actors and there needs to be more organization and better storyboards as the videos progress and get more complicated.

I can improve by following the storyboard more and not straying away from what the plan is. This will hopefully get my videos done quicker and nit having them overdue and late like the last one was.

Exploring A/V Video 1

6 Shot Video

This is a video on Brett.  He is drawing.  Thats all it is.  Drawing

My favorite shot of the six was probably the Over the Shoulder shot.  Its like a code up but its its own little thing.  Its a special little shot.

What I learned from this was how to use Final Cut Pro.  It reminded me a lot of iMovie but there was more stuff you can do and it was more straight forward.

The Color Wheel.  Twelve colors placed in a wheel, whats the significance of that?  They're just colors?

The color wheel is a simple visual way to compare colors an see which two go well together.  The colors that are connected by the triangles are the best when it comes to choosing which colors to put with together.

What I learned from this project was just all the basics to Adobe Illustrator  and how to make shapes and change them around and add different colors.
